Nanaimo Fringe Festival is a theatrical event with six fantastic performances, which are chosen through lottery coming from both established and new artists. The event is organized by the Pacific Coast Stage Company, a charitable and non-profit organization. Pacific Coast Stage Company's goal is to nurtures theatre artists of central Vancouver Island and grow the industry. It facilitates collaborations and developments with all artists then encourages them to up their game. Nanaimo Fringe Festival occurs at Vancouver Island Conference Centre in downtown Nanaimo. Vancouver Island Conference Centre is right in the middle of downtown, so you get to see everything downtown has to offer. Among them are Breakout Nanaimo Escape Rooms, Vancouver Island Military Museum and Nanaimo Museum, where you can learn so much about Nanaimo. Casino Nanaimo and McGregor Park or Piper Park are close enough for a short walk. Downtown is where the best restaurants, coffee shops and bars are placed. The best thing is that they are within walking distance.

From Victoria:
Getting to Vancouver Island Conference Centre from Victoria is via Trans-Canada Hwy/BC-1 N. It is 110 km (68.3 miles) and takes about an hour and a half.
Head west on Pandora Ave toward Government St and go on for 99 m (324.8 ft). Turn right onto Government St
and after 1 km (0.6 miles), take a slight right toward Trans-Canada Hwy/BC-1 N. Follow it for 72 m (236.2 ft) and use any lane to turn left onto Trans-Canada Hwy/BC-1 N.
Drive 109 km (67.7 miles) more to reach Vancouver Island Conference Centre.
Nanaimo Fringe Festival began in 2011, which at first was called Fringetastic Theatre Festival. The name was coined by the co-founder of the festival, Jer Banks. It was also the title of video interviews Jer did while travelling throughout Canada working for Fringe Festival.
