Canadian Steam is aims to heat up Vancouver Island in the dead of winter. Canadian Steam is a comedy and live-music show coming to Campbell River on Jan. 30 and Victoria Jan. 31. It blends fast, improv comedy, music, enthusiastic dancing and jaw-dropping eh-rotica, and frisky Canadian charm. It’s Whose Line Is It Anyway? energy meets Magic Mike confidence, with dad bod reality and Island audiences have been lapping it up. “We keep coming back to Campbell River because the audiences here are fully in it,” says Denise Jones, co-founder of The Comedy Department. “People show up, they play along, and they bring the kind of energy that makes live comedy really work. It’s one of those towns where every return feels like partying with friends.” And is in for a real treat this time around. These flannel-clad “heartthrobs” have been officially dispatched by the Ministry of Sexy™ (yes, that’s totally a thing) to prove that Canada isn’t just nice – it’s devastatingly funny. But here’s the twist: The audience decides if they’ve earned the Official Stamp of Sexy at the end of the night. Their cheers, their laughter, their votes hold the power. In addtion the Campbell River and Victoria dates at the end of the month, the show will return to the Island for a March 13 date in Sidney and another March 14 in Courtenay.
