A new app will help Campbell River residents and tourists explore Elk Falls Park like never before.
Greencoast Media, a Quadra Island-based company, has launched the naturealive app in a partnership with the Museum at Campbell River. It can be downloaded for free from Apple and Google mobile app stores. A package for Elk Falls is available to download on the app.
App users can learn about the history of the First Peoples in the area, the creation of the Elk Falls Provincial Park, different habitats, the park's features, and many more. A virtual 360-panorama tour is also available, allowing users to move along the trails and learning about the park's features and wildlife.
Another addition is a virtual tour of the new and old John Hart Powerhouse.
"This project is about more than technology; it's about preserving and sharing the deep history and natural beauty of this place," said Sandra Parrish, the Museum at Campbell River's director. "With this new app, visitors can experience those stories in an entirely new way, whether they're standing on the trails or exploring from home. We're thrilled to help bring the voices, history, and knowledge of this region to life."
Once downloaded, the app can be used fully offline and can show users where they are in the park.
