Heavy snowfalls during the cold season make Mount Cain one of the best skiing locations on Vancouver Island. The breathtaking slopes of Mount Cain, besides various trails and logging roads, multiply the skiing attractiveness in this location.
Mount Cain is the only community-owned and operated ski resort. The drier snow condition of Mount Cain makes it a better place for spring skiing. Known as the highest coastal ski location in British Columbia, Alaska, and Washington State, Mount Cain is primed with a vast majority of facilities available for ski followers.
Open during weekends, Mount Cains's visitors may experience a 547 meters (1794.6 ft) vertical drop. It is noteworthy to mention that there are three 1,800 peaks within a 5-km (3.1 miles) radius of the Mount Cain mountaineering area.
Mount Cain is accessible via Highway 19, located south of the Woss turnoff. Driving approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour northward from Campbell River city, there are the blue highway signs of Mount Cain and Schoen Lake Provincial Park. Going further to the Woss, there is a gravel road to Mount Cain. There is also a route from the north side of Vancouver Island, located near Port McNeill, with a 50-minute journey.
