Biosphere Awareness Day 2025

Something important is happening in Qualicum Beach this autumn — and it’s quieter than a parade but could change how students and community groups think about the place we all share.
Biosphere Awareness Day (often shortened to BAD Day) brings local stewardship groups, students and educators together in a trade-show style gathering to explore what it means to live inside a UNESCO-designated biosphere region. The focus is on practical learning: volunteer and training opportunities, career pathways, and how local groups help advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Event Overview

Date: Thursday, 27 November 2025.
Time: 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM (local time).
Venue: Kwalikum Secondary School — gymnasium.
Venue address (for arrival and mapping): Kwalikum Secondary School, 266 Village Way, Qualicum Beach, BC.

What to Expect at Biosphere Awareness Day

The event features local non-profit and stewardship groups setting up tables and displays. Students can interact directly with these organizations to learn about programs, volunteer opportunities, training, and career paths.
Participants will be introduced to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and discover how local groups contribute to advancing these goals within the Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Region.
The Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Region (MABR) is the official organizer of the event. Visitors should consult the official MABR event page for updates, calendar files, and additional information.
