2025 Victoria Grandmothers for Africa Cycle Tour

Pedal for a Purpose
This August, the streets of Vancouver Island will come alive with the 19th annual Victoria Grandmothers for Africa Cycle Tour—a journey that transcends miles and pedals straight into the heart of global solidarity. From August 10 to September 7, cyclists of all ages and abilities will unite to raise funds and awareness for African grandmothers who are the unsung heroes in the fight against HIV/AIDS. These women are not just caregivers—they are community leaders, educators, and pillars of hope. And this year, their Canadian counterparts are riding to ensure their voices are heard and their needs met.

Event Overview

Launch Date: August 10, 2025, at Mile 0, Victoria

Finale: September 7, 2025

Registration Fee: $20

Fundraising Goal: $200,000

Ride Options: Various routes catering to all skill levels, including the Campbell River to Victoria ride covering 275 km over three days

Support: Meals, refreshments, and positive energy provided by local Grandmother groups along the route

Purpose & Impact

Funds raised through the cycle tour support the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign, which partners with community-led organizations in sub-Saharan Africa. These organizations assist grandmothers in providing care, education, and support for their grandchildren and other children orphaned by the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Since its inception, the Victoria Grandmothers for Africa group has raised over $2 million for this cause.
