Located near the West Coast Road on southern Vancouver Island, the Jordan River settlement is the home of paddlers who prefer to experience sea kayaking. The Jordan River flows from the north to the south, draining the lands from San Juan Ridge to sea level. Kayakers can experience various wave conditions and weather temperatures. Jordan River has intensified winter climatic conditions and stormy weather from late September through March.
It is noteworthy to mention that there are a convenient picnic park and a small campsite for overnight visitors at Jordan River. Visiting Jordan River Regional Park, a 187-hectare coastal forest park located along the Juan de Fuca Strait, is another merit of choosing Jordan River as a paddling zone. There is also a recreational area at French Beach Provincial Park where paddlers can picnic, swim or watch for wildlife. There is a route between Sooke and Port Renfrew, suitable for kayaking, mostly on long and sunny summer days. Camping areas around the Jordan River facilitate a long kayaking experience.
Located approximately 60 km (37.2 miles) northwest of Victoria, Jordan River is on the West Coast Road on southern Vancouver Island. Jordan River is accessible by taking the Colwood exit off Highway 1 to Highway 14, passing Sooke's village, halfway between Sooke and Port Renfrew. Vancouver Island's southwestern coastline includes French Beach, China Beach, Botanical Beach and Juan De Fuca Provincial Park.
