Located in Sansum Narrows and accessible through Maple Bay or Cowichan Bay, Octopus Point is an excellent swimming and diving place. Most divers use shores since boat diving is a little bit expensive there. The marine life is observable in Octopus Point shallow waters, and there is no need to dive in deep waters, which may be unsafe for visitors.

Getting to Octopus Point from Victoria is via Trans-Canada Hwy/BC-1 N. It is 75.1 km (46.6 miles) and takes about an hour and 10 minutes.
Take Government St to Trans-Canada Hwy/BC-1 N for 1.2 km (0.7 miles). Use any lane to turn left onto Trans-Canada Hwy/BC-1 N and drive 53.9 km (33.5 miles). Take Cowichan Bay Rd, Maple Bay Rd, Genoa Bay Rd, and Stoney Hill Rd to your destination in North Cowichan. After 20 km (12.4 miles), you will reach Sansum Narrows.
From Nanaimo:
The access to Octopus Point from Nanaimo is via Trans-Canada Hwy/BC-1 S. It is 63.2 km (39.2 miles) and takes about 55 minutes.
Take Wallace St to Trans-Canada Hwy/BC-1 S and after 550 m (1804.4 ft), turn right onto Trans-Canada Hwy/BC-1 S. Drive 45.1 km (28 miles) and follow Herd Rd, Genoa Bay Rd, and Stoney Hill Rd to your destination. After 17.6 km (11 miles), you will reach Sansum Narrows.
