The fastest route from downtown Nanaimo to Nanaimo Lakes is Nanaimo River Rd. It is 30.6 km (19 miles) and takes about 35 minutes.
Drive from Nanaimo Lakes Rd, S Forks Rd and Nanaimo River Rd to Nanaimo C for 29.2 km (18.1 miles). Continue straight on Nanaimo River Rd to your destination, and after 1.5 km (0.9 miles) more, you will reach Nanaimo Lakes.

Getting to Nanaimo Lakes from Victoria is via Trans-Canada Hwy/BC-1 N. It is 127 km (78.9 miles) and takes about an hour and 45 minutes.
Take Government St to Trans-Canada Hwy/BC-1 N for 1.2 km (0.7 miles). Follow Trans-Canada Hwy/BC-1 N to Nanaimo River Rd in Nanaimo A. Take the Nanaimo River Rd exit from Trans-Canada Hwy/BC-1 N and drive 98.2 km (68 miles). Continue Nanaimo River Rd to your destination in Nanaimo C. After 28.1 km (17.4 miles), you will reach Nanaimo Lakes.
With a 7.9 km (4.9 miles) length, "Mount Decosmos Trail" is a lightly trafficked out and back that reaches the north of Nanaimo Lakes (Second Lake). The trail is rated as difficult.
