Beaufort Park is a year-round destination and among Nanaimo's beautiful parks. It is lovely when trees in the park begin to blossom in spring and splash nice colours. The park has some attractive features. There are some well-groomed trails for walkers and runners that lead you to some picturesque views. Don't worry about your dogs. Beaufort Park dog off-leash area is a fenced grassy field near the tennis court. Of course, there is a multi-purpose court that is suitable for basketball, pickleball and other sports. You can find a community garden and food forest in the area of Beaufort Park.
Beaufort Park is located in Nanaimo, Vancouver Island. It is north of Bowen Park and west of Newcastle Island Marine Provincial Park. By going 1.9 km (1.1 miles) to the east, you will reach St. George Ravine Park. Beach Estates Park is also situated north of the park, which is 2.9 km (1.8 miles) away. People with golf skills can enjoy Pryde Vista Golf Course that is 1.5 km (0.9 miles) to the southwest. Beaufort Park's geographical location allows you to find some services like tent camping and RV sites around it.
From Nanaimo:
The fastest route from downtown Nanaimo to Beaufort Park is Townsite Rd. It's 3.6 km (2.2 miles) and takes about 5 minutes.
Take Comox Rd to Wall St for 1.1 km (0.6 miles). Continue on Wall St. Take Bradley St to Townsite Rd and after 1 km (0.6 miles) turn left onto Townsite Rd. Continue for 1.1 km (0.6 miles) and take Beaufort Dr to Lorne Pl. After 350 meters (1148.2 feet) you will reach Beaufort Park.
From Victoria:
Getting to Beaufort Park from Victoria is via Trans-Canada Hwy/BC-1 N. It's 117 km (72.7 miles) and takes about an hour and a half.
Take Government St to Trans-Canada Hwy/BC-1 N for 1.2 km (0.7 miles). Follow Trans-Canada Hwy/BC-1 N to Jingle Pot Rd in Nanaimo and drive 112 km (69.5 miles). Continue on Jingle Pot Rd. Take Westwood Rd and E Wellington Rd to Lorne Pl. After 3.6 km (2.2 miles), you will reach Beaufort Park.
There is no designated hiking trail to reach Beaufort Park.
The Beaufort Park area was home to Coast Salish people on the eastern coast of Vancouver Island. The Snuneymuxw is a vibrant first nation and among the wealthiest ones at the Salish Sea center. It is the biggest first nation in British Columbia. This nation is in the group of a few nations which have a pre-confederation treaty with the monarchy. Their responsibility for productive lands has made some hard-working people of this nation. The Snuneymuxw politically, socially, and economically participated in making progress on common ways of prosperity. Snuneymuxw currently has four reserves on the beaches of Nanaimo Harbour and the Nanaimo River, and two reserves on Gabriola Island.
Beaufort Park has provided some multi-purpose courts for different sports such as basketball, pickleball and other sports. Walk in the park and use the dog off-leash area. In Bowen Park, south of Beaufort Park, you can enjoy activities like swimming, curling, and skateboarding.
