Granny Falls, Chase River Falls or Colliery Dam Falls is the cherry on top of Colliery Dam Park. Deep in the abundant lush forest, this hidden gem is so stunning that you watch it and get lost in time. The good thing about this waterfall is that it is located in the scenic Colliery Dam Park. Its beautiful trees, natural atmosphere, and smoothly running river all work hand to make Granny Falls more magical and breathtaking.
Whenever you visit this fall, it will amaze you. You may want to visit in spring when the water flow is big and strong due to spring runoffs. Maybe you prefer the summer when the forest is lush and green, and the waterfall is a trickle. Or you plan to go in fall when the leaves change their colours to the fabulous shade of autumn orange and red and yellow, which is excellent for photography. Perhaps you choose winter when everything is covered with pure white snow. You visit this waterfall cascading on rocks with your family and dog, which must be kept on a leash.
Ganny Falls is located in Colliery Dam Park, in Nanaimo's heart, west coast of Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. You can find the waterfall by going under the highway and using the tunnel. Colliery Dam Park is near the downtown of Nanaimo, and despite that, it's full of natural beauties. It's like another world inside the city. There are two lakes in Colliery Dam Park, the upper and lower lakes and the Chase River running through them. The tremendous forest creates a perfect place for a family vacation. There are other attractions outside the park, like Westwood Lake Park, Harbourfront Walkway, and Newcastle Island Provincial Park.
