Orcas:
Killer whales (Orcas) use sound to navigate, communicate and locate their prey. These mammals' brain is four times the size of the human brains. Their emotional communications are beyond our imagination. They have excellent navigational abilities that help them to live in a nearly gravity-free environment seamlessly. While it is more likely to spot transient orcas near southern and northern coasts, the best time to view orcas around the west coast is from May to October.
Humpback Whales:
You can expect to see Humpback whales near Vancouver Island, mostly about 48 km (30 miles) off Ucluelet, Bamfield, and Tofino's shores. The best time for watching humpback whales in the Pacific Northwest is from May to September.
