Every Child Matters: A Day of Remembrance with the Ts’uubaa-asatx First Nation

A Gathering of Remembrance, Reflection, and Culture in Lake Cowichan
The Ts’uubaa-asatx First Nation invites community members and visitors to join together in Lake Cowichan for a day of remembrance, reflection, and cultural sharing. As part of Culture Days 2025, the Every Child Matters gathering honours the children whose lives were taken by the residential school system, and stands in solidarity with survivors, families, and communities who continue to carry this history.
This day is a time to listen, learn, and reflect on the truth of the past, while also recognizing the resilience and strength of Indigenous peoples. Through ceremony, stories, and cultural traditions, the Ts’uubaa-asatx First Nation leads this gathering to remind us that every child’s life matters and that remembrance is inseparable from healing and the ongoing work of reconciliation.
