Shawnigan Lake is a recreational site and weekend spot with a live community and several beaches. This place is the favourite destination for visitors who are fond of wakeboarding and waterskiing. Moreover, paddling facilities make the place suitable for kayaking and canoeing. The lake is near four parks, including Memory Island Provincial Park, West Shawnigan Lake Provincial Park, Koksilah River Provincial Park and Bamberton Provincial Park. Hiking, biking, sunbathing, swimming, and fishing are other available activities.
Shawnigan Lake is one of the southern Vancouver Island resorts, located west of Mill Bay and north of Victoria, with approximately 5 km and 45 km (3 miles and 28 miles) distance, respectively. There are two ways to reach the place. The first route is accessible by heading north from Victoria. Approximately 2 km (1.2 miles) past the Malahat Chalet, a road named Shawnigan Lake road is on the left side. The second route is reachable by heading south from Duncan. Before reaching Mill Bay, there is a road named Shawnigan Lake-Mill Bay on the right side.
