Langford is a city on the south coast of Vancouver Island. It is one of the 13 component municipalities in the Greater Victoria region and heaven for golfers. Captain Edward Langford, in 1851 established one of the four Hudson's Bay Company farms in the Victoria area. Meanwhile, the European people settled down in Langford in the early 1860s. There was a short-lived gold rush in the city, and now the place where it happened is called Goldstream Provincial Park. In the late 1800s, the area used to be a favourite recreation destination for people from Victoria and other cities. People would travel to get to the famous country resort Goldstream House Hotel. Hunters would build lodges on the beautiful shores of the lakes near the mountains. In summer, city folk would just come here to get relaxed and socialized at Langford Lake.
Langford has short, cool, dry, and partly cloudy summers and long, very cold, wet, and mostly cloudy winters. The average temperature varies between 3°C (37.4°F) to 19°C (66.2°F).
Since winters in Langford can be cold, the best time to visit the city is in summer.
