Named after John Buttle, who explored the area in 1980, Buttle Lake has a well-maintained sandy beach with campsites right on the shore. The campsite is well-maintained and spacious, set in large trees, mostly Douglas fir. Camping in Buttle Lake Campground can be done with 86 campsites. Thirty-six campsites are first come-first-first-serve, and others are reservable.
Next to Buttle Lake is a sandy beach lakefront worthy of exploring and offers perfect swimming. There you can do a lot of activities and enjoy seeing marine creatures.
The campground welcomes RV and vehicle campers with water pump amenities and washrooms. Steel fire rings are provided in all campsites to enjoy campfires where fires are not prohibited.
Karst Creek group campsite is a lakeside option for larger groups featuring a boat lunch with RV sites and space for up to 80 people.
Campbell River city, 49.1 km (30.5 miles) to the east, offers different amenities and stores for visitors to provide their requirements.
Buttle Lake campground is located near Buttle Lake in Strathcona Provincial Park in the center of Vancouver Island.
A short 200-meter (656.1 ft) walk is to Darkis Lake to the west of the campground. Upper Campbell Lake and Campbell Lake are to its north within 20 km (12.4 miles), and Upper Quinsam Lake is 3 km (1.8 miles) to its east.
Mt. Titus Marine Campsite and Wolf River Camp Site are about 5 km (3.1 miles) to the south.
Check out the beautiful White Ridge Provincial Park 25 km (15.5 miles) to the west. Loveland Bay Provincial Park, Elk Falls Provincial Park, and Miracle Beach Provincial Park are east of the Buttle Lake Campground.
Lupin Falls Trail, which is a nice hiking trail, is located 4 km (2.4 miles) to the south.
The average temperature in Buttle Lake Campground is about 10°C (50°F). It experiences the coldest month in December with a maximum temperature of 4°C (39°F) and a minimum temperature of 0°C (32°F). The warmest months are in July and August, with a maximum temperature of 25°C (77°F) and a minimum temperature of 13°C (55.5°F). Rain falls throughout the year. The high rate of precipitation is from October to April. Snowfall is from October to April.
