Located within Strathcona Provincial Park in Forbidden Platea, the Croteau Lake Campsite is the first backcountry group site accepting reservations. This remote hike-in-only campsite features a brand new yurt that makes camping in Croteau Lake Campsite perfect for outdoor education initiatives and family reunions.
The Croteau Lake campsite has 12 tent pads accommodating up to 25 people. Bear caches, a composting toilet, and a large yurt are provided for the campers, with a small dock to access the lake. By camping on Croteau Lake, you will experience a sense of peace and seclusion.
Nestled in the sub-alpine of Strathcona, Croteau Lake Campsite is surrounded by jagging glacial mountain peaks such as Mount Albert Edward. The campsite offers backpacking trips along with wildflower-rich meadows winding around small ponds and picturesque lakes.
Croteau Lake Campsite is located within Strathcona Provincial Park in the Forbidden Plateau. Access to the Croteau Lakes Campsite is possible from Mount Washington Ski Resort at the trailhead.
The area offers several hiking trails with beautiful sights through an alpine forest winding around small ponds and beautiful lakes with mountain peaks.
Campers can use the campsite as a base camp. So they can explore magnificent mountains such as Mount Drabble, about 6 km (3.7 miles), Indianhead Mountain 7 km (4.3 miles), Mount Becher 9 km (5.5 miles) to the south. Also, they can climb Mount Elma 500 m (1640 ft.), Mount Brooks 2 km (1.2 miles), and Strata Mountain 3 km (1.8 miles) to the north.
Cruikshank Canyon Lookout has worth visiting for its spectacular sights. A great view of Albert Edward Mountain with the forested valley below is impressive.
Several beautiful lakes are around Croteau Lake. Buttle Lake is located 16 km (9.9 miles) to the northwest and Comox Lake 14 km (8.6 miles) to the south. Visitors would have an excellent time at Comox Lake Bluffs Ecological Reserve with gorgeous bluffs.
Shops and amenities are available in the nearby town and community of Comox and Courtenay.
