One of the favourite recreational camping destinations on Central Vancouver Island is Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park Campground. Impressive falls and lakes which offer excellent swimming, spectacular sights, and good campgrounds make the park a nice place to enjoy camping for families and individuals.
Steep mountains border the park in a forested area; Gorgeous Little Qualicum Falls are plunging into a rocky gorge ornament in the park. These features make the Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park one of the most beautiful parks with a spectacular Vancouver Island environment.
While camping there, enjoy plenty of vantage points of the Qualicum River and falls and all the attractive views. Easy hikes along the river with beautiful and unique waterfalls are the camper's paradise.
Two campgrounds are located within the park: the upper campground and the lower campground. Tent sites, RV sites, and vehicle-accessible campsites are provided for campers in little Qualicum Provincial Park. Three of the day-use areas are located just a few kilometres from each other.
In Little Qualicum Falls day-use area, picnic shelter, picnic table, freshwater, and flush toilets are provided. Picnicking in the campground is not allowed. Cameron Lake's day-use area offers the best swimming in the park. Fire is not allowed there, and pets must be on a leash and are not permitted on beach areas. Pit toilets and picnic tables are provided there. Beaufort's day-use area about 6 km (3.7 miles) to Little Qualicum Falls is a small site that offers fishing and swimming opportunities. Parking is limited, and two picnic toilets and one pit toilet are provided there. In the day-use area, fire is not allowed, and pets must be on a leash and are not permitted on beach areas.
Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park is located in the center of Vancouver Island. While camping there, exploring Cathedral Grove of Macmillan, 11 km (6.8 miles) to its west shouldn't be missed. Mt Arrowsmith Massif Regional Park is located 10 km (6.2 miles) to its south-west, Englishman River Falls Provincial Park 16 km (9.9 miles) to its south, Englishman River Regional Park 19 km (11.8 miles) to the south-east, Spider Lake Provincial Park 6 km (3.7 miles) to the north, and Macmillan Provincial Park 9 km (5.5 miles) to the west. About 6 km (3.7 miles) to the north, having an excellent camp with a beautiful setting would be possible in Spider Lake Springs Resort. Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park incorporates Cameron Lake, and two nearby lakes to its north are Spider Lake and Horne Lake. The park's nearby regions and towns are Qualicum Beach, Errington, Parksville, and Coombs.
The average temperature in Pachena Bay Campground is about 8.6°C (47°F). It experiences the coldest month in December with a maximum temperature of 5°C (41°F) and a minimum temperature of -1°C (30.2°F). The warmest months are July and August, with a maximum temperature of 23°C (73.4°F) and a minimum temperature of 10°C (50°F). Rain falls throughout the year. The high rate of precipitation is from October to March. Snowfall is from October to April.
