Breakwater Island is located southeast of Gabriola Island, near Nanaimo, with a distance of 111 km (68.9 miles) from Victoria, on the east coast of Vancouver Island. Nanaimo has a ferry terminal that connects Vancouver Island and the British Columbia mainland. Breakwater Island is accessible by boat. From Nanaimo:
Heading southwest on Mark Bate Lane, turn right onto Dunsmuir Street. Subsequently, make another right turn onto Franklyn Street. Heading to Wallace Street, make a left turn onto Esplanade Street. Continue slightly left onto Front Street, take the ferry Nanaimo Harbor to Descanso Bay (19). Continue straight and then continue left onto North Road. Afterward, make a slight right onto Coast Road. Finally, after turning to the Stalker Road, make a left onto Drumbeg Provincial Pk until reaching Breakwater Island.
From Victoria:
Drive 111 km (69 miles) to downtown Nanaimo which takes about an hour and a half. And the rest of your journey from there will be the same as above.
Head west on Pandora Ave toward Government St. After 99 m (324.8 ft), turn right onto Government St. Drive 1.0 km (0.6 miles) with a slight right toward Trans-Canada Hwy/BC-1 N. After 72 m (236.2 ft), use any lane to turn left onto Trans-Canada Hwy/BC-1 N and drive 110 km (68.3 miles). Turn left onto Wentworth St and go on 160 m (524.9 ft). Turn left at the 2nd cross street onto Wallace St. After 170 m (557.7 ft), you will reach Nanaimo.
